Centennial School, the site of the University from 1965 to 1969, was located at 12th Avenue in Evansville. The back portion of the building bordered St. Joseph Avenue. Sandy's Restaurant (now Hardee's) was located across the street and served as an impromptu student union building between classes. The former elementary school was built in 1876, the centennial year of the United States of America--thus its name.
