In 1965, the first classes for Indiana State University-Evansville were held at Evansville's Centennial School, so named because it was constructed in 1876, the nation's centennial year.

USI occupies a 300-acre suburban campus with 10 classroom buildings and a $27.5 million library under construction.

Student Housing

In 1984, the first student housing, built by Southern Indiana Higher Education, opened adjacent to campus.

The campus provides apartments and suite-style housing for almost 3,000 students.



On opening day in 1965, Indiana State University-Evansville welcomed 412 (244 full-time and 168 part-time) students to its rolls.

For the 2004-05 academic year, enrollment was 10,050 students from all 92 Indiana counties, 35 other states, and 34 countries.



In 1965, Indiana State University-Evansville had two full-time and 36 part-time faculty and staff.

USI has 505 full-time faculty members and administrative staff, 254 part-time faculty, and 463 support staff.


Academic Programs

Classes began in 1965 with freshman-level courses in seven academic programs.

USI offers more than 70 academic programs and is authorized to confer degrees through the master's level.
