Architect selected for University Center expansion
|
USI Trustees approved the
recommendation of the Board’s Construction Committee to have the
architectural firm of Holzman Moss Architecture design the
University Center expansion and renovation project. The project
will include design of the space occupied by the library before
construction of the current Rice Library.
Holzman Moss Architecture of New York will collaborate with the
local firm of Hafer and Associates of Evansville. The New York
firm is known for its pioneering use of stone by the firm’s
principal Malcolm Holzman, who has been an innovator in the
use of stone for decades.
The Trustees were told Holzman is an accomplished architect with
more than 100 building projects completed over the course of his
professional career. Indiana projects he has worked on include the
Mt. Healthy School and the Columbus Occupational Health Center in
Columbus, Indiana, and the Marie P. DeBartolo Center for the
Performing Arts on the University of Notre Dame campus. He served
on the planning study for the Fort Wayne Museum of Art in Fort
Wayne. The firm designed the Student Union Building at Texas Tech
University in Lubbock, Texas, among other university buildings
across the nation.
