Join the USI Alumni Association for a Spring Trip to "The Big Easy

The USI Alumni Association is planning “The Big Easier Adventure: Beyond Bourbon Street” for May 26-30 in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Two frequent New Orleans visitors have teamed with the USI Alumni Association to offer USI friends an opportunity to see and do things they might otherwise miss, including:Park in New Orleans

• Dinner at Brennan’s with special wine pairing and commentary by Cellar Master Harry Hill

• A five-course lunch with wine Chef Greg Piccolo at The Bistro. Chef Greg is known for his use of local seasonal ingredients to produce fabulous meals.

• A VIP tour of the Museum of the American Cocktail. You’ll meet New Orleans raconteurs and have an opportunity for an optional special dinner at Café Adelaide.

• Reception at Arnaud’s, complete with a tour of their Mardi Gras costume collection.

Optional destinations and activities include shopping at Canal Place and Riverwalk, Harrah’s Casino, Aquarium of the Americas, World War II Museum, Ogden Museum of Southern Art, galleries and antique shops, carriage rides and haunted tours, St. Louis Cathedral and Jackson Square, the French Market, world-class restaurants, streetcar rides, and Garden District, cemetery, swamp, and plantation tours. If enough people are interested, there may be a special session at a culinary institute.

Flavor of New OrleansThe group will stay at Hotel Monteleone, one of the French Quarter’s finest hotels. Lodging for Tuesday through Friday nights (double occupancy) is included in the tour cost. Transportation to New Orleans is not included.

The trip will be guided by
Madonna Yancey and Linda Cleek '82 M'00, associate dean of Extended Services. Yancey has family ties in New Orleans and has been a regular visitor throughout her life. A journalist, she has covered the New Orleans Wine and Food Experience since 1998 and knows many of the great chefs of New Orleans.

The final per-person registration fee for The Big Easier Adventure will be determined by the number of participants. A minimum of 10 travelers is required, with the per-person fee lower if more participate. The price will range from $815 (for 10 to 14 people) to $685 (for 25 or more). A $200 deposit is required by March 27, with the balance due by May 1.
