Nine retirees to be recognized
University of Southern Indiana honored nine retiring
employees with more than 200 years of combined service at a reception in April.
"The combined years of service of these employees total an impressive 211
years. These are individuals who have played major roles in the development
of the University programs and curriculum, ranging from 1967 to the
present," said USI President H. Ray Hoops.
"These have been transforming years in the life of USI, and we extend our
gratitude to these dedicated employees who have made a tremendous difference
in our ability to provide excellence. We wish them well in retirement."
The nine retiring employees include:
Roberta Edgerson, (photo unavailable) custodial worker in the
Physical Plant,
who joined the University in 1988 as a custodial worker in Physical Plant.

Dr. Robert Gehring, associate
professor of psychology, who joined
the University in 1973 as an
assistant professor of psychology.
He earned a Ph.D. from University of
Colorado in 1973.
Jennie Head, senior administrative
assistant in the Security Office, who
joined the University in 1984 as a
clerk/typist I.
Sharron Kay Hobgood, senior
assistant in the USI Bookstore, who
joined the University in 1983 as an
account clerk I.
Dr. David Kinsey, associate
professor of mathematics, who
joined the University in 1972 as an
assistant professor of mathematics.
He earned a Ph.D. from Indiana
University in 1972.
Linda Matheson, program director
and assistant professor of dental
assisting, who joined the University
in 1989 as an instructor in dental
assisting. She earned an M.B.A. from
University of Evansville in 1993.
Dr. Oscar Ozete, professor of
Spanish, who joined the University
in 1980 as an associate professor of
Spanish. He earned a Ph.D. from
Indiana University in 1974.
Mary Schroeder, assistant
professor of communication studies,
who joined the University in 1967 as
an instructor in speech. She earned
an M.A. from St. Louis University in
1965.
Dr. Ruth Tompkins, (photo unavailable) associate professor of education,
who
joined the University in 1989 as an assistant professor of education. She
earned a Ph.D. from Northwestern University in 1989.
