Wish you were here: postcards from USI

You can now share photographs of USI with friends and family by sending virtual postcards, thanks to the Web Services team: Brandi Hess, Ed Sharf, and Michael Hunsaker.

"It's a fun way for students, prospective students, parents, and alumni to share images of USI with their friends and family who might not be around here or are not familiar with campus," said Hess, graphic designer with Web Services.

Virtual postcards from USI are now available online.
Recipients view the front and back of the postcard,
complete with "stamp" and personalized text.

The postcards, currently available on the University's homepage, are a permanent addition to the Web site. The virtual postcard feature went up February 25 and will stay on the homepage for three weeks. About 200 postcards had been sent as of March 1.

After the link is removed from the homepage, the postcards will be available through several pages on the Web site, including Web Services'. "Anyone in the University community can link to it and they are certainly welcome and encouraged to do so," Hess said.

Currently, there are a dozen virtual postcards online, and they will be updated periodically.

Sending a virtual postcard from USI is just like sending a card through major greeting card Web sites. You choose a postcard and fill out a form including the names and addresses of the recipients (you can send a single postcard to more than one person) and sender. The feature allows you to preview the postcard as the recipients will see it, and offers you the choice to continue editing or send.

After you send a postcard, you receive an email confirming that a link to the postcard has been sent to the recipients. You also receive an email when the recipients have viewed the postcard.
