Student appointed to the USI Board of Trustees

Sam Tucker

Sam Tucker, a USI chemistry and business major, has been appointed the student representative to the USI Board of Trustees, the governing body of the University. The appointment, effective immediately, is for two years.

Tucker, a resident of Evansville, is a graduate of Reitz High School. He attends USI as a Presidential Scholar. Tucker serves as vice president of the Student Government Association, plays on the tennis team, and is a member of the Geology Club, the Policy Review Committee, and the student chapter of the American Chemical Society. He is consistently on the Dean’s List.

Tucker is the son of Bill and Mary Tucker of Evansville.

A student considered for the trustee position is a full-time student, with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5, a resident of Indiana and a U.S. citizen, who has completed two semesters at the University. The student trustee serves as a full voting member who is expected to bring both the interests of students to Board discussions and relate the student’s own perspective to issues dealing with the University community.

Tucker said he applied for the position because he wants to give something back to USI. “I’ve been given a good opportunity for postsecondary education at USI, and I want to be part of the future decisions and endeavors of the University,” he said. “I think I can represent the students well because of my involvement in student activities.”
