Celebrate the season with USI Madrigals

Visit 15th-century Europe on campus in December, when USI will present its 34th annual Madrigal Feaste heralding the start of the holiday season.

Madrigal Feaste

A jester and member of the court deliver steaming wassail as part of the pageantry at USI's Madrigal Feaste. This year, the holiday tradition will be presented December 4-7 in Carter Hall. For tickets or information, call 812/461-5237.

The University's most enduring musical tradition, the feaste showcases members of the USI Chamber Choir, who will don period costumes and entertain with selections of old English and Italian Madrigals, folk songs, and holiday choral selections.

A reenactment of a 15th-century royal feast, the entertainment also will include dancing and merriment on a grand scale. A collaborative effort, the Madrigal Feaste partners talented faculty and students with University Dining Services to choreograph an evening fit for a king.

This year's menu features tossed green salad, hot wassail (spiced cider), soup of beef and barley, his majesty's roasted chicken, holiday roasted red-bud potatoes, fresh steamed vegetables, bread pudding with rum sauce, and tea and coffee.

USI's Madrigal Feaste will be presented at 7:30 p.m. December 4-6 and at 6 p.m. December 7 in Carter Hall.

Ticket prices are $27 for adults and $25 for students and senior citizens. For tickets, call 812/461-5237 or click here.
For additional information, contact Daniel R. Craig, director of USI choral activities, 812/464-1736.
