Alumni Volunteers

We count on alumni to provide meaningful service to USI. Here are ways you can be a part of what happens at the University:

Advocates for Higher Education
Alumni may volunteer as a USI advocate to inform members of the Indiana General Assembly or the Indiana Congressional Delegation of the University's achievements, needs, and priorities. To learn more, contact Nancy Johnson '83, director of Alumni and Volunteer Services at njohnson@usi.edu.

Alumni-in-Residence
Each school of the University selects a graduate to return to campus to share career and personal experience with students and faculty. To learn more, contact Nancy Johnson '83, director of Alumni and Volunteer Services at njohnson@usi.edu.

Alumni Volunteer Network
The Office of Alumni and Volunteer Services seeks alumni volunteers to assist with career programs, University fund-raising, student recruitment, legislative support, and other activities. To learn more, go to Volunteer USI.

One-on-One Tutoring Program
The USI Alumni Association works with Volunteer USI, the Evansville-Vanderburgh School Corporation, and the Metropolitan School District of Mt. Vernon to provide volunteer tutors to help elementary school students improve their skills. Learn more about One-on-One.

Alumni Speakers Bureau
Graduates who are available for speaking engagements are listed in a guide to assist area organizations in planning programs and meetings. Go to Speakers Bureau.

Alumni Career Resource
Alumni may volunteer as career counselors to USI students. The Office of Career Services and Placement refers students who want to find out more about a career in a particular field to the appropriate alumni volunteer. Sign up to be a Career Program Volunteer.

Career Mentor Program
Twenty juniors or seniors network during spring semester with a graduate in their field of study. The activities for mentors and
their students may include job shadowing, professional group meetings, introductions to other professionals in a career field, assistance with preparing resumes, and mock job interview. Sign up to be a Career Program Volunteer.

Day on the Job
Students spend a day with a professional selected from a list of alumni volunteers. Students gain valuable career information and expand their career networks by observing alumni on the job. Sign up to be a Career Program Volunteer.

Of course, many benefits are intangible. As a USI alumnus, you have many opportunities to network with other professionals, increase your community involvement, and maintain friendships with former classmates.
