Business Administration Degree
Why would I want a Business Administration
degree?
If you want to acquire the
knowledge and skills essential to be an effective manager in today's organizations,
you will probably be interested in a degree in business administration.
The major provides broad coverage of the technical, interpersonal,
conceptual, and analytical skills necessary to specialize in a particular
area of interest such as entrepreneurship/small business, international
business or general business. A degree in
business administration can lead to many different careers.
What career opportunities would I be prepared
for?
The business administration major is designed to prepare you for
first-line supervisory positions in profit or not-for-profit organizations,
private sector, or public sector. Graduates typically will take
positions in financial management, marketing management, operations
management, or general management. The business world is constantly
changing; the business program prepares students with the knowledge and
skills necessary to succeed in the face of this challenge. As a business administration graduate

Will I have internship and co-op opportunities?
As a business administration major at USI, you would have opportunities to participate in USI's
Business Professional Practice Program. This is a partnership between USI and employers. Junior and senior business administration majors are employed in
part-time (internship) or full-time (co-op) positions in business. The jobs allow
students to learn professional skills in the business environment while earning college
credits.
USI business administration majors in this program have worked for both large and small organizations: banks, brokerage firms, manufacturers, health organizations, non-profits, and government agencies.
Information about these opportunities can be obtained through the College of Business or the Career Services Office.
What courses do I need to take to earn a
degree in Business
Administration?
- 53 hours in the University Core Curriculum program. All Business Administration majors are required to take the following courses as part of the UCC requirements:

124 total hours required for a baccalaureate degree. These hours must include classes to meet the 39-hour upper division (300/400 level) course requirements. A minimum 2.2 GPA in all business courses and a 2.0 overall GPA are also required.
