Dr. Gary Black is Associate Professor of Decision Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the University of Alabama in Huntsville, an M.S. in Industrial Engineering from the University of Tennessee, and a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from The Pennsylvania State University. He is a licensed professional engineer in Tennessee. Prior to coming to USI, Dr. Black was an Assistant Professor of Industrial Engineering at Tennessee Technological University. Prior to that, Dr. Black worked for 17 years as an Industrial Engineer in the electronics manufacturing industry at large corporations such as Raytheon Company and Siemens Corporation. Dr. Black's teaching interests include all aspects of quantitative analysis, specifically operations management, operations research, decision analysis and statistics. His consulting interests include optimization and efficiency analysis of operations and logistics across a variety of industries. His research interests pertain to adaptive heuristics for scheduling applications. He has published his research in the Journal of Scheduling, the International Journal of Production Research, European Journal of Operational Research, Computers in Industry and The Journal of the Operational Research Society of Japan. |
