Omicron Delta Epsilon

Omicron Delta Epsilon (ODE) is an academic honor society that recognizes scholastic achievement in economics.  Benefits of ODE membership include closer academic and professional relationships with faculty in economics and access to a publication outlet for promising undergraduate and graduate student papers in The American Economist, the Journal of Omicron Delta Epsilon.

Objectives:

  • The recognition of scholastic attainment and the honoring of outstanding achievements in economics
  • The establishment of closer ties between students and faculty in economics within and among colleges and universities
  • The publication of its official journal, The American Economist
  • The sponsoring of panels of professional meetings as well as the Irving Fisher and Frank W. Taussig competitions

Admission Requirements for Undergraduates:

  • Completion of 12 semester hours of economics courses
  • Attainment of at least a "B" average in economics courses and an overall "B" average in all classes
  • Being an economics major is not required, but must have a genuine interest in economics in addition to meeting the above requirements.

Membership Application:

Membership information and applications are available from the advisor for Omicron Delta Epsilon.

Benefits for Members:

Upon election to the society by the department's faculty a lifetime membership fee is charged to each prospective member.  In return, the member receives a membership card, a scroll, and a year's subscription to The American Economist.
