Why See a Counselor?




 

Disability Resources

Counseling Center staff have developed a number of resources to help students with disabilities better participate in educational programming and benefit from an accessible environment.

The following assistance and resources are available to those students for whom Counseling Center staff endorse academic accommodations:

-Referral for professional diagnostic evaluation/re-evaluation of a disability
-Accommodation letters to take to your professors
-Scheduled use of available test rooms, readers, scribes and testing computer
-Note taker supplies and copy services
-Assistance in acquiring accessible textbooks
-Scheduled use of a Galileo reading machine
-Sign language interpreter location and financial assistance
-Referral to available tutoring resources, especially the Academic Skills Center
-Assistance with adaptive technology requests
-Scheduling of accessible tables and chairs for the classroom
-Assistance with selective scheduling
-Advocacy, counseling and referral to community resources
