Gary May: Veteran For Peace
Gary May, associate professor of social work, has a life-sized cut-out of Roy Rogers in his office, given to him by a St. Louis bar owner who refused to part with John Wayne, May's first choice.
Wayne was a big influence on May, who joined the marines in August of 1967. "That macho, stoic image splayed an intense role in where I am now," May said. It’s an image that led him to Vietnam in February of 1968 and resulted in his journey from eager marine to veteran peace activist. [More]
Mister Rogers' Neighborhood Writer at Early Childhood Conference
Hedda Sharapan, a colleague of Fred Rogers who died in 2003, and writer for his Family Communications, Inc. non-profit company, will be the featured speaker at an early childhood conference at the University of Southern Indiana on Saturday, October 24. [More]
Apply for the Epi-Hab Scholarship and earn $1,000
The Epi-Hab Center for Disability Studies is offering six $1,000 scholarships to USI students. Scholarships will be awarded to one student in each of USI's five colleges plus a student in University Division or from the Bachelor of General Studies program. [More]
