Associate Chair & Director of School PartnershipsI serve as the Associate Chair and Director of School Partnerships for the Department of Teacher Education. One of my responsibilities is the placement and supervision of all student teachers, K-12.
I joined the faculty at USI in 1994 after teaching elementary school in Illinois, South Carolina, and Indiana. My area of expertise is literacy education, specifically literature for children and young adults. I have taught undergraduate and graduate courses in children’s literature, young adult literature, reading methods, social studies methods, and content area reading.
I also serve as the national chair for the Teachers’ Choices Project. Teachers’ Choices is a project of the International Reading Association. Teachers from across the country read and review new trade books to identify those which have classroom applications.
