Special Education
The student who desires to become a special education teacher will complete the following minimum course of study that leads to a Bachelor of Science degree and standard Indiana license in exceptional needs: mild intervention. Candidates select a program option:
  1. Elementary/Middle School Emphasis for grade K-6
  2. Middle School/Secondary School Emphasis for grades 5-12
A Bachelor of Arts degree may be earned when the appropriate amount of credit in a foreign language is earned. Elementary education majors are encouraged to complete a teaching minor, also.

University Core Curriculum Requirements
A. The Mind: Enhancement of Cognitive Development (12 hours)

A2. Mathematics (Must include MATH206 [MATH106 prerequisite]) 3 hours
B. The Self: Enchancement of Individual Development (8 hours)

C. The World: Enhancement of Cultural and Natural Awareness (26-27 hours)

D. The Synthesis: Integration and Application of Knowledge (3 hours)
