Before being appointed an assistant professor at USI, I taught classes as an adjunct instructor for more than 15 years, while teaching full time in the public schools, first at Harrison High School and then at Signature (Charter) High School. I was honored to be named High School Teacher of the Year in 2000 by the Evansville Courier and Press.
My undergraduate degree was in secondary education, with a double major: English and Speech/Drama. My Master's Degree was also in secondary education. Post-Masters, I earned K-12 certification in gifted and talented education as well as a license in secondary school administration and supervision. I also have had extensive training in Advanced Placement English and several areas of the International Baccalaureate Programme. I earned my Ph.D. in educational leadership from the University of Louisville in 2005.
My current courses at USI include EDUC 196 and 305, but I have also taught EDUC 366, 395, and 401.
