What activities/organizations are you involved in?
As a student at USI, I have been a Student Ambassador, the Habitat for Humanity Treasurer,
Chief Justice and Associate Justice of the Student Government Association, an AMIGO for 3 years, Camp Eagle
Leader, Resident Assistant, Conference Assistant, member of the Math Club, Honors Program, and Gamma Phi
Beta sorority.
What are you most looking forward to about Camp Eagle?
The thing which I am looking forward to most about Camp Eagle is getting to know future students of USI
and sharing with them all that I love about this university.
How did you get started as a
student leader at USI?
I attended Camp Eagle the summer before I started school at USI. I loved the camp and met people who I shared similar interests
with. This encouraged me to get involved in with the Student Ambassador Organization and the AMIGO team when I first started
college because I knew I related well to the Camp Eagle leaders who were members of these groups. Camp Eagle was a great
transition from high school to college and it has helped me achieve all that I have today.
What was the biggest change from
being a leader in high school to a leader in college?
The biggest change from being a leader in high school to being a
leader in college was the responsibility that I was given. In high school,
my advisors set the tone for our organization goals and tasks. At USI, it is
the job of the students participating in the organization to be responsible
for getting things accomplished. It takes a lot more initiative and
self-motivation to be a leader in college.
What advice would you give to a
new student who aspires to be a leader at USI?
My advice is to know who you are and what you stand for. Getting
involved and becoming a leader is much more meaningful, rewarding, and
successful to those who have a purpose and a passion for what they do.
