What activities/organizations are you involved in?
I am currently involved in Delta Zeta, Student Ambassadors, and
SGA. I have also been involved with AMIGOs and the American Chemical Society,
and I was a Rho Sigma (Sorority Recruitment Counselor).
What are you most looking forward to about Camp Eagle?
I can't wait to meet everyone! I am so excited to meet this new freshman class of
leaders and help them get their start and find their passion at USI!
How did you get started as a student leader at USI?
I started out by living on the Emerging Leaders LLC, which provided a great pathway
to get involved in Student Ambassadors, Greek Life, AMIGOs and other student
organizations. From there my involvement just got bigger as I took on leadership
roles in those organizations!
What was the biggest change from being a leader in high
school to a leader in college?
For me, it was about knowing what I was truly passionate about. In high school
there were not a ton of options for clubs and organizations, but when you come
to USI there are 90+ organizations that you can join! So finding the ones that
were really special to me and that I knew I could make an impact in was very
important. Also, managing my time as a student, a leader, and a college freshman
was very challenging!
What advice would you give a new student who aspires to
be a leader at USI?
Be well rounded. I think that it is very important to not limit your involvement
to only one area like SGA, or Greek Life. It is important to branch out and get
involved in other organizations. It helps you meet more people, and gives you a
chance for greater involvement in the USI Community! Also, do not forget why you
are here! You go to college to get an education, so that should always come first!
