Notice to the StudentsStudents have the right and the obligation to make known any concerns or problems that they may encounter regarding the operation of the department and/or its compliance with ACEJMC accreditation rules. This includes the Liberal Arts Building and its facilities, department personnel, classrooms and equipment, and courses and expectations. Students may express their concerns to their academic adviser, their professors, or to Dr. J. Wayne Rinks, Chair of the Department of Communications. For the second year in a row, the Communication Studies Connection student organization has won the National Chapter of the Year award sponsored by the National Communication Association. This competitive award is given to a member organization that develops insightful programs that sharpen professional communication skills and uses those skills to benefit the community. Members created a portfolio of last year's events that included (among others) $725 in scholarship and community donations, the annual "Careers in Communication" panel, and skills workshops on stress, time, and money management. This portfolio was showcased at the National Communication Association's annual conference in New Orleans on Friday, November 18.
