- Evon Hawkins volunteers at Patchwork Central.
- Michael Kearns edits documents for the Evansville Zoo.
- Susanna Hoeness-Krupsaw tutors at the Evansville
Literacy Center.
- Betsey Passmore has served on the editorial advisory
board for the Evansville Courier and Press.
- Julia Galbus offers a journal-writing workshop at the
annual Girls in Bloom day.
- Johanna Rusk leads a troop of Girl Scouts and serves on
the Executive Council of Phi Mu.
- Sherry Darrell teaches an adult Sunday school class at
Trinity United Methodist Church.
We learn
- Lisa Nicholas and Evon Hawkins both
completed their dissertations and are officially, Ph.D.s.
We travel
- Larry Gries takes his students to the Evansville Museum
of Arts and Sciences to examine the connection between literary and visual
art.
- Sherry Darrell took fifteen Humanities faculty to
Chicago to visit the Art Institute for Ghiberti doors from Florence 15th
century; the Field Museum for a Charles Darwin exhibit; the University of
Chicago Oriental Institute for fabulous artifacts 2.0 million years ago to
about 400 BCE; the Newberry Library for its huge, rare collections of maps,
manuscripts, illustrations; and the Chicago Shakespeare Theatre for
Cymbeline, Lyric Opera of Chicago for La Boheme.
