Peru -- March 7 - March 15, 2009

I thought 2007 was going to be a once in a lifetime trip but I have to go back to Peru and invite you to come on the 14th Annual Tour to Latin America.  We will depart Louisville on the 7th of March and arrive back on Sunday the 15th which will be an additional two days from our 2007 tour.  The tour will include Cuzco, The Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu (you may add on a full day hike on the Inca Trail from stop 104 into Machu Picchu which will arrive at the site at 5:00pm), a bus tour of sites on the way to Puno and lake Titicaca and return to Lima for our flight back to Louisville.

The tour is filling up fast.  Please contact me to make arrangements.

European Cathedral Tour -- Summer 2008

LIBA 497 Cathedrals is intended to increase both your knowledge of and appreciation for monumental buildings—usually very large buildings that reflect the beliefs and hopes of medieval generations that built them and that inspire you to appreciate the many forces culminating in those drop-dead gorgeous Gothic Cathedrals.

Students learn more from ten days of traveling in Europe--a required element of the “Cathedrals” course-- than they ever would from classroom reading assignments, term papers and discussions. Leaning against a pillar in dark Notre Dame while admiring the great Rose Window, wandering among the statuary and memorials of French kings and queens who have rested at St. Denise for a thousand years or more, surveying all of historic Paris from atop the Eiffel Tower, looking to see if there really is an orb missing from a West Minster monument, and seeing how many students will fit in a traditional big red British telephone booth are experiences not offered in the classroom.

"Cathedrals" is literally a learning experience. Ask Mr. Jeffers about course and travel particulars for Summer I 2008. Better yet, ask one of the students who has made the trip.
