Kentucky students of selected counties eligible for scholarships
|
High-achieving students from selected Kentucky counties now have an opportunity to be considered for a departmental scholarship at the University of Southern Indiana. Students who are residents of Daviess, Hancock, Henderson, and Union counties have access to the same scholarship program that has drawn record numbers of Indiana’s best students to the campus. Scholarship recipients from the four-county area will continue to benefit from the reciprocity program which allows them to attend USI while paying in-state tuition and fees. The scholarship program is the Departmental Scholarship and it is a four-year renewable award available to high school seniors who are in the top 25 percent of their class, and also on track to complete the pre-college curriculum, or ranked in the top 10 percent while earning a grade point average of at least 3.6 on a 4.0 scale in math, English, science, and social studies. Award amounts are variable, based upon academic class standing, high school grade point average, and scores on either the ACT or SAT. Academically qualified students who apply to USI by March 1, 2005 will automatically receive the departmental scholarship. Students from reciprocity counties who excel in sports, theatre, music, art, and creative writing also may be eligible for competitive scholarships. Other awards are available through the USI Foundation to recognize individuals on the basis of community service, area of study, or county of residence, in addition to academic achievement. |
