Eagles bounce back against
Augusta State
Southern Indiana 11, @Augusta State University 5
The University of Southern Indiana baseball team bounced back from a loss on Tuesday to defeat Augusta State University 11-5 Wednesday in Augusta, Georgia. USI, which had lost 11-4 to Augusta State on Tuesday, raises its record to 5-4 this spring.
Senior right-hander Jay Winters picked up his second straight victory, going 8 2/3 innings, allowing five runs, one earned and striking out four.
At the plate, sophomore leftfielder Josh Perkins led the Eagles with a two-run home run in the fifth inning. Perkins finished the day, going four-for-six with a run scored and two RBIs.
USI, 2-3 on the spring trip, will resume action on Thursday, March 8, against the University of South Carolina-Aiken in a 5 p.m. (CT) start.
