USI takes series decider with KWC
University of Southern Indiana 4, @ Kentucky Wesleyan College 2
The University of Southern Indiana baseball team scored once in the eighth and two more in the ninth to come from behind to defeat Kentucky Wesleyan College 4-2 at Panther Park Sunday in Owensboro, Kentucky. USI raised its record to 11-9 overall, 2-1 Great Lakes Valley Conference, while KWC falls to 7-11, 1-2 GLVC.
USI was led at the plate by junior centerfielder Marcus Renn (Floyds Knobs, Indiana), who was two-for-three with two runs scored, including the game winner in the ninth. Renn scored on the single up the middle by sophomore second baseman Adam Schiff (Evansville, Indiana) to give USI the lead for the first time since the first inning.
On the mound, senior right-hander Jon Adams (Ft. Branch, Indiana) earned his first victory (1-2) and complete game of the season for USI. Adams went nine innings allowing two earned runs and five hits, while striking out six.
The next action for the Screaming Eagles will be on the road, Tuesday, March 27, at Murray State University for a 2 p.m. contest. Te next home game for the Eagles will not be until Wednesday, April 4, when they host Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
