2011 - 2012 OFFICERS
We are excited to be serving as officers for this wonderful organization.
Susie Schmitt - President
I grew up the second oldest of 13 children, my family means a lot to me. Hi, I am Susie Schmitt, I am looking forward to a fun year as the president of Administrative Assistants and Associates. Along with your other officers, Terri Alvey, Terry Martin and Cindi Kueber, we hope to have some great speakers this year and get to know all of you better.
Just a little information about me. I grew up the second oldest of 13 children, and my family means a lot to me. I am still very close to my family and we get together a lot. I have been married to Len for 36 years. I met him my senior year of high school when I transferred to Mater Dei after Rex Mundi closed. Len and I have four grown and married children with eight grandchildren and two more on the way. I graduated from USI in December 2002 with an associates degree in computer information systems. After graduation I began working in the Pott College of Science and Engineering. From there I transferred to Technical Services in the Library here at USI. I have worked here 8 ½ years and have been a member of AAA for 8 years. Some of my hobbies are square dancing, playing guitar, leading singing with my husband at church, playing clabber, crocheting, embroidery, making greeting cards, making baby quilts for my grandchildren, and working Sudoku puzzles.
When you see me, let me know about your hobbies!
Susie Schmitt - President 2011/12
Terri Alvey - Vice-President
I'm Terri Alvey and I have been with USI and a member of AA&A going on 9 years. Currently, I am Rice Library's Systems/Web and Computer Technician. I'm also taking classes to get a postbaccalaureate in Computer Information Systems. Yes, I'm a computer geek and enjoy spending my spare time surfing the net, playing Farkle on Facebook and Angry Birds. I also talk with my granddaughter at least once a week using SKYPE, that way she can see her grandma whenever she wants.
I'm so excited about being this year's vice-president! I'm also excited about the wonderful monthly activities the Program Committee has put together. This year is shaping up to be very informative and entertaining.
If you have an idea for a guest speaker or an activity, please contact me at talvey@usi.edu
Cindi Kueber - Treasurer
I started at USI in June 2007 as an Administrative Clerk in Extended Services, and was upgraded to an Administrative Assistant in 2009. I have been a member of Administrative Assistants & Associates for one year and am looking forward to serving as Treasurer of the group. I can be reached in the Extended Services Department at extension 1989.
Terry Martin - Secretary
My name is Terry Martin and I am the Secretary for Administrative Assistants and Associates for the 2011-12 school year. I have participated in the AA&A for the past twenty years. This group has provided me the opportunity to meet many of the support staff across campus through the years. We have participated in a lot of fun activities and learned from the guest speakers that have shared their knowledge and skills with us from humor to how to respond to someone needing CPR. I would encourage all new and seasoned employees to join us this year to develop lasting friendships with your colleagues. My current position on campus is in the Pott College of Science and Engineering as an Administrative Associate. I am a member of Staff Council this year and serve on the Employee Relations Committee. My husband, Kenny, and I have six children and twelve grandchildren. I completed an Associates degree in Early Childhood Education at USI in 1999, and I am currently working on my Bachelor of Social Work degree.
