Approximately 54.3 percent of the University's 2012-2013 current operating budget comes from state appropriations while student fees make up 42.1 percent; 3.6 percent comes from other sources.
The state appropriation for fiscal year 2012-2013 is $52,243,609.
The total investment in the campus buildings and grounds was $306,795,263 as of June 30, 2012.
The USI Foundation raises funds for activities not covered by state appropriations such as scholarships, academic projects, athletic programs, and other special needs. The Presidential Scholarship Program of the Foundation is providing full scholarships for selected valedictorians and salutatorians from Indiana high schools. There are 40 Presidential Scholars enrolled. The Foundation also provides funding for 10 Deans Scholarships and six B/MD Scholarships each year.
The Financial Transparency Project was created by House Enrolled Act 1004-2011 through Indiana Code 5-14-3.6. The Act requires Indiana's publicly funded higher education institutions to submit audited financial statements, outstanding debt information, and other public financial documents to the Commission to ensure public access and transparency.
