Summer/Fall 2008 Updates
ICN Registration Deadline:
Students registering for a course through the Indiana College Network must complete the process by 4:30 pm on the Wednesday prior to the beginning of the term. Because extra time is required to coordinate registrations between multiple campuses, ICN course registrations can not be initiated during the open registration period for that term. For summer these dates are:
Summer I courses: Wednesday, May 7, 2008
Summer II courses: Wednesday, June 11, 2008
Summer III courses: Wednesday, July 16, 2008
For fall this date is Wednesday, August 20, 2008
Academic Advising:
The Distance Education Office does not provide academic advising. Students have been informed to schedule a consultation with their academic advisors to determine their course schedules before registering via MyUSI or before submitting a registration form through the Indiana College Network Website.
Students registering for USI courses only will register via MyUSI. The Distance Education Office assists with registration into courses offered at partner campuses through the Indiana College Network after students pre-register on their site. Any ICN registration forms received by the Distance Education Office MUST have advisor approval before we are able to process them. The Distance Education Office cannot process any registration forms for on-campus courses.
PLEASE NOTE: Ivy Tech has changed the course coding for some of the courses they offer through the ICN, so students should make sure that the course being selected is equivalent to the USI course needed. Click here to access the updated course transferability grid located on the USI Distance Education Website under Student Resources or Click here for TransferIN. TransferIN is being developed as the state’s official source for course transfer information across campuses and institutions.
If you have questions, please contact our office at distance@usi.edu or by phone at 812/465-7182 or 800/813-4238 (outside Evansville).
Advising Faculty:
The Office of Distance Education would like to provide you with some resources to assist students in enrolling in distance education courses offered at USI or at one of the partner institutions through the Indiana College Network. This will be of particular help to those of you who are providing advisement to students prior to Open Registration. Because of incompatibilities in academic calendars statewide, USI’s Open Registration will be too late for students to enroll in courses via the Indiana College Network. Most campuses statewide begin classes the week before USI classes begin.
If you are currently communicating with students interested in ICN courses, please have them complete the registration process as soon as possible. Do you or your advisee need assistance? Please contact the Distance Education Office at distance@usi.edu or 812/465-7182.
For USI students interested in
registering for USI distance education courses,
the process is much simpler.
They can register via 1) their academic advisor or 2) MyUSI -- the same avenues
as for on-campus courses.
