ADVISING APPOINTMENT
Depending on your standing, status and major, you will be required to meet
with your academic advisor prior to registering for classes. As a
continuing student, it is
your responsibility to make an advising appointment with your assigned
advisor. Most advisors post office hours and/or advising hours on
their office doors. If you do not
know the name of your advisor, you can check on
MyUSI or talk to someone in
the College of your major (if you have declared a major), in University Division
(if you are undecided), or in Extended Services (if you are a General
Studies major).

You should arrive for your appointment on time and prepared to discuss with your advisor your plans for the upcoming semester. The types of questions your advisor may ask include:
You and your advisor will decide on an appropriate academic plan for one or more semesters. Be sure to ask about pre-requisite classes and if required courses are offered every semester or on a rotating schedule. It is your responsibility to follow through with the appropriate action after the advising meeting.
