Science, Engineering, and Education
The Pott College of Science, Engineering, and Education offers most of its courses (except mathematics and education courses) as laboratory-intensive experiences. Students who aspire to professional careers requiring additional training beyond the bachelor's degree usually major in biology or chemistry, though other majors are possible along with pre-professional curricula.
The engineering degree program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (EAC/ABET). The cooperative education experience is designed to assist the student in developing an understanding of human relationships and in learning to work with others as a member of an engineering team. Individual growth is enhanced by the realization that, in addition to demonstrating theoretical knowledge, one also is learning to become an integral part of the working interrelationship between the academic and professional worlds.
The teacher education and physical education programs offer undergraduate majors in early childhood education, elementary education, exercise science, kinesiology, special education, and sport management. In addition, the college offers the required professional education component of all teacher education programs: elementary, secondary, and all-grade.
