Cyd Fithian
Biography:

Cyd Fithian is the Assistant Math Specialist in University Division. She has a Master’s degree in Math Education from the University of Southern Indiana, a Bachelor’s degree in Math Education from the Western Illinois University and an Associate’s degree in Mathematics from Spoon River College.  She has 36 years experience as an educator, which 27 years have been devoted to college level math.  She holds teaching licenses in both Illinois and Indiana.  She has combined experience in the field of teaching math, supervising math instructors and tutors, planning the curriculum for the Gens 097 mathematics courses, and participating in the placement testing of incoming USI students. She also has 27 years in the field of learning assistance and student support services.   She has given numerous presentations at workshops and institutes at national and regional conferences.

Her passion for teaching and student involvement has earned her the President’s Award for Excellence in Instruction, President’s Award for Teaching Excellence, and Who’s Who Among  America’s Teachers. She is an active member of the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA), National Association for Developmental Education (NADE), Indiana Association for Developmental Education (INADE),  Association for the Tutoring Profession (ATP), National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM).
