Home Schooled Students

The University of Southern Indiana welcomes applications for University admission from home schooled students.  Home schooled students have been part of the academic community for many years and the University recognizes the important contributions that these students make both in the classroom and as a part of student life on the campus.  The University makes a deliberate effort to accommodate the special circumstances and unique needs of home schooled students in the admissions process.

students on campusApplicants for admission who have not fulfilled the Indiana Core 40 requirements are considered individually based upon the same criteria used in the evaluation of students from public or private high schools.  Grade point average, curriculum, standardized test scores (SAT, ACT) and other evidence of the applicant's potential for academic success are considered in the admission decision.

Qualified home schooled students are also eligible for consideration of departmental scholarships.  Home schooled students applying for academic scholarships are evaluated on the same basis as all other students.  Grade point average and standardized test scores (Sat, ACT) serve as the primary criteria

Standardized Test Scores

All students applying for admission to the University of Southern Indiana are required to take either the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT or the American College Test (ACT).  These tests should be taken prior to application to the University

Transcripts

The University understands that the academic transcripts of home schooled students may differ from those of public and private high school students.  Home school transcripts are required for admission to the University and they should include:

●  A list of all high school equivalent courses taken, and the time frame in which the courses were completed (year and semester).

If you have completed course work concurrently at a college or university, please include official transcript(s) from the institution(s) with your application for admission.

Admission of home schooled students to the University of Southern Indiana does not guarantee acceptance into a specific program of study, department, or College.  Further information concerning the academic requirements of major programs and/or Colleges may be obtained from the Office of Admission.
