International Students
Arrival in Evansville
The Office of International Programs and Services will send you a "welcome packet" several weeks before you depart for the U.S., with an orientation schedule, arrival information form, and other details regarding housing, insurance, and other important information.
We will be happy to meet you at the Evansville airport or bus station if you let us know the date and time of your arrival. Please complete the arrival information form when you receive it, or send us a fax 812/465-1057 or an email gahan@usi.edu.
Please plan to arrive in Evansville in time for International Connections, our international orientation program, which takes place the week before classes begin. This program is designed to assist in your adjustment to the University and the Evansville community. You will also be advised regarding your academic program, and you will register for classes during this week.
All students are required to take the placement tests given during orientation, including a math placement test, a Writing Placement test, and the Michigan Test of English as a Foreign Language. Depending on the results, you may be required to take one or two classes in English as a Second Language in addition to your regular coursework.
Orientation activities also include a tour of Evansville, a welcome party, and other opportunities to meet American and international students while you get settled into your new home.
