Most commonly asked questions

How soon can my son/daughter apply to USI?
A high school student may apply after completing 6 semesters of high school course work.

Is there an application fee?
Yes. USI requires a non-refundable application fee of $25.00. Exception: 21st Century Scholars are exempt from paying the USI Undergraduate Application fee.

What is needed to apply?
Beginning freshman are required to complete and submit an Application for Undergraduate Admission, a $25.00 application fee, official high school transcripts, and scores for either the ACT or SAT test. Once all of the above items have been received, an Admission Counselor will review the completed application to determine admission status.

What are the requirements for beginning freshmen to be granted admission?
Admission with distinction is granted to students who graduate in the top 10% of their class or achieve a minimum SAT score of 1800 or ACT score of 27 and graduate in the top 20% of their class. Indiana students must also complete Core 40 requirements

Admission in good standing is granted to students who rank in the upper 50% of their high school class. Indiana students must also complete Core 40 requirements.  The university prefers students have a 2.0 cumulative grade point average and a minimum composite SAT score of 1230 or a composite ACT score of a 17 for admission.

Does USI have an application deadline?
In order for maximum consideration and assistance to be given to each applicant, the Application for Admission should be submitted well in advance of the term in which the student plans to enroll. A beginning freshman should complete the admission procedures early in the senior year of high school.
