Family Nurse Practitioner named
Distinguished
Nursing Alumnae

Tammy Hargett, a family nurse practitioner, is the
Distinguished Nursing Alumnae for 2002. The
award, presented by the University of Southern
Indiana School of Nursing, recognizes professional
work that reflects the excellence which the school
strives to instill in its graduates. Her caring attitude
to patients and family was cited in the award
presentation.
Hargett has worked as a staff nurse, assistant
nurse manager, and a clinical
nurse coordinator
and clinician. She is currently on staff at Welborn
Clinic Highland.
She earned the Bachelor of Science degree in
nursing from USI in 1993 and
the Master's of
Science in nursing from USI in 1999.
In 1993 Hargett was the recipient of Welborn Hospital's Outstanding Nursing
Practice Award.
She is a member of several professional organizations including the Tri
State Advanced Practice Nurse Association, the American Academy of Nurse
Practitioners, and the American Association of Critical Care Nurses. She is
a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society.
She is a guest lecturer and preceptor for the USI Family Nurse Practitioner
program.
