Dean of Liberal Arts to leave after three years
Dr. Iain Crawford, dean of the School of
Liberal Arts, announced that he is leaving USI to become vice
president of academic affairs at the College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio,
effective July 1.
Crawford, who has been with USI for three years, said he is looking forward
to the opportunity he will have to be part of a national-level school.
Crawford said he is pleased with the progress he and the liberal arts
school have made since he has been here.
He praised the faculty and the new programs that have been developed, such
as the Master of Public Administration program.
Dr. Robert Reid, provost and vice president for Academic Affairs, said, "Dr. Crawford
made a major contribution to not only the department but the university and
the community." Reid added, "I wish him the best and I know he will do his
best."
Reid will now meet with the chairs in the liberal arts school to appoint an
acting dean until this fall when the search for a replacement will begin.
The College of Wooster, a private college founded in 1866, is about 55 miles
southwest of Cleveland. It has about 1,900 students. According to its
Web site, the college is nationally recognized for a curriculum that
"emphasizes independent learning."
