Article I The Name
The University of Southern Indiana Student Alumni Association (SAA).
Article II The Purpose
SAA’s purpose on campus is to develop positive relations among current and prospective students, alumni, faculty, staff, parents, and the community. SAA is a student-run organization sponsored by the USI Alumni Association. SAA provides a link for current students to work with the Alumni Association in developing loyalty and support of the University. SAA strives to build spirit and tradition among the University community.
Article III The Members
All undergraduate students enrolled in at least six hours at USI and in good standing shall be eligible for membership in SAA.
Article IV The Executive Board
The officers and directors elected shall constitute the Executive Board with authority to transact business of the organization between meetings.
The officers of this organization shall consist of a President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer.
The program directors shall represent fund-raising, publicity and recruitment, and philanthropy.
Article V Elections
Nominations must be open one general meeting before the elections. To be eligible for nomination, the individual must be a member for at least two semesters.
Officers and program directors shall hold their office for a one-year period, the first week of May through the end of April.
Vacancies among the officers or program directors shall be filled by special election of the general membership. Such officers and program directors will serve until the next annual meeting.
Article VI Meetings
Regular meeting of the general membership of SAA will be held semi-monthly, August through April of each year.
Special meetings may be called at any time deemed necessary by the Executive Board.
The Executive Board may meet at any time deemed necessary by any member of the committee or by the SAA advisors.
The first general meeting in April will be the annual meeting, at which time reports of officers and directors for the year shall be read and officers and directors elected. In the event that all business is not finished, an adjourned meeting may be held.
Article VII Advisors
The advisors to this organization will be:
- A. USI Director or Assistant Director of Alumni and Volunteer Services
- B. Individual appointed by the Director of Alumni and Volunteer Services
At least one advisor will be in attendance of each general membership meeting, Executive Board meeting, and program/project meeting.
The advisor(s) is to be included in any major decision-making process of the organization and shall see that parliamentary procedure is maintained during the organization discussion.
Alumni representatives of the USI Alumni Association may attend SAA general membership meetings, Executive Board meetings, and program/project meetings. Alumni representatives can provide information and advice but will not take part in the decision-making.
Article VIII Amendments
The constitution may be amended at the annual meeting by a two-thirds vote of those voting, provided that the proposed amendment was submitted in writing at a previous meeting.
