Scholarships, Grants, Internship Stipends, and Leadership Award
A total of $21,500 is annually awarded to students funded with the
USI Scholarship Endowment interest.
Scholarships
A total of twelve (12) at $1,000 each are awarded. Selection
is made by the USI Alumni Association University Support Committee. Eligible
students will receive applications in December.
Criteria for eligibility must be in good standing with the University, must be enrolled 12 hours or more (full time student) at USI, must have a minimum 3.00 GPA, candidates for bachelor's degrees must have earned between 32 and 78 credit hours, candidates for associate degrees must have earned at least 32 credit hours.
Grants
A total of 12 at $500 each are awarded. Selection
is made by the USI Alumni Association University Support Committee. Eligible
students will receive applications in December.
Criteria for eligibility - must be in good standing with the University, must be enrolled between 6 and 11 hours (part- time student) at USI, must have a minimum 3.00 GPA, must have accumulated 12 hours at USI.
Faculty Recognition Award
The recipient of this $1,000 award is selected
by the previous-year faculty recipient of the USI Alumni Association Faculty
Recognition Award.
Criteria for eligibility and selection - must be in good standing with the University, must be enrolled 12 hours or more (full time) at USI, must have a minimum 3.00 GPA.
Internships
USI Alumni Association Internship Stipends, $500 each,
are awarded three times annually during the spring, summer, and fall semesters.
Selection is made by the USI Alumni Association University Support Committee.
Criteria for eligibility - must be in good standing with the University; must be enrolled 12 hours or more (full-time student) at USI; must have a minimum 2.5 GPA; candidates must have earned at least 63 credit hours; candidates must have been accepted into a 3 hour unpaid internship
Leadership Award
The recipient of this $1,000 award is selected
by the USI Alumni Association University Support Committee. It is awarded
annually at the recipient's high school Senior Awards Day.
Criteria for eligibility - must be a current-year graduating senior attending an Indiana high school; must show extensive leadership qualities while in high school; must be in upper 20 percent of the graduating class; $1,000 award, distributed as $500 allotments for fall and spring semesters,
must be used for tuition, fees, and books while attending USI.
Application procedures - complete application form by student deadline date; official high school transcript; list of school, community, and church-related leadership and service
roles; two letters of recommendation giving evidence of leadership potential (one from school, one personnel, and one non-school person); essay of approximately 200 words on one of the following topics:
a. My Goals in Life
b. The Leadership Role, Person, or Event that has Influenced Me Most
Student Alumni Association
SAA is a student service organization developed in 1989. It provides
a link among students, alumni, and the University community. SAA members
are strongly committed to University promotion and support. Activities
include: Breakfast with the President and Lighting A Tradition.
SAA assists the Alumni Association with Day on the Job, Annual
Alumni Picnic, USI Day at the Zoo, Homecoming, and the Graduating Class Reception
and Dinner. See Student Alumni Association for more information.
