BiographyThis little biography provides the more salient details of my adult life. If you want to know more you'll just have to ask me. I am an associate professor of economics, coming to USI in 1994, from Canisius College in Buffalo, New York. Prior to living in Buffalo, I attended the University of Houston where I earned my doctorate degree after serving three years in the Peace Corps in the Republic of Niger in West Africa. My research interests are in the areas of economic development and international economics, in particular foreign assistance and the economics of the HIV/AIDS pandemic. Prior to my interests in development, my education and work experience were in the area of public health. With an undergraduate degree in biology, I worked for the Houston Health Department enforcing the Texas Clean Air Act. Prior to the Health Department, I worked as a research technician at Baylor College of Medicine. My wife, Mary Jo, and I have three great kids, two boys and a girl. Most activities center around the children. Hobbies include home repairs, cooking, coaching soccer, and when the opportunity presents itself hiking/backpacking . |
