Strategic Priorities

Consistent with our SWOT analysis, vision and mission statements and guiding principles, the Romain College of Business has developed the following strategic priorities.

Enhance Teaching Effectiveness
The following strategies address this priority:

  • Review of "best practices" in pedagogical development within the Romain College of Business.
  • Providing opportunities and incentives for the development of innovative and effective pedagogy.
  • Dissemination of information within the college on best practices in pedagogical development and associated results.

Enhance Outcomes Assessment
The following strategies address this priority:

  • Development of faculty assessment capabilities with respect to learning outcomes.
  • Development of an assessment plan for the Romain College of Business for the core and each program/major.
  • Tracking pedagogical innovations and their impact on learning outcomes.

Explore and Develop Distinct Niches for the College
The following strategies address this priority:

  • Examination of possible partnerships with the Engineering program at USI.
  • Exploration of distinct niches in teaching.
  • Exploration of distinct niches in research.
  • Exploration of distinct niches in service.

Promote College Accomplishments
The following strategies address this priority:

  • Development of framework for disseminating information about the accomplishments of the College's students, faculty, staff and alumni.
  • Development of an active alumni base.
  • Exploration of increased engagement of advisory boards and groups.
  • Identification and pursuit of likely sources of external funding and establish growth targets.

Enhance Student-Centered Learning
The following strategies address this priority:

  • Promoting awareness among students of their responsibility in the learning process.
  • Increasing student involvement in learning through reflection (self-assessment).
  • Identification of opportunities for student-faculty connections outside the classroom.

Nurture Our Organizational Support System
The following strategies address this priority:

  • Identification of organizational inefficiencies.
  • Improvement of organizational effectiveness.
  • Ensuring active college involvement in the budgeting and design phases of the new building.
