Bulk Mail Guidelines
Mail Processing
USI office mail stops are for official university business only. No
commercial use of mail stops is allowed.
Group and keep USI envelope flaps overlapped (meter mail) for sealing
and posting as well as separated from envelopes with regular postage
stamps affixed.
A USI Mail Processing Form is used
to flag international addressed mail as airmail or surface, and content
description/value if merchandise, as required for customs declaration.
Outgoing USPS mail cannot be processed without USI department fund
account for chargeback purposes.
Off-campus
Mail to Residence Life and University Home and
Foundation/Development are delivered each work
day. Mail to New Harmony operations is delivered on Tuesday and Friday
mornings. The Distribution Services van leaves campus around 10:15 a.m.
Return mail is delivered on the afternoon mail delivery.
Enclosures
Inter-office confidential matter should be sealed in an envelope marked
"confidential" then placed in the USI inter-office envelope .
Non-mail items
Items such as glass parts, chemicals, bulky samples which are
dangerous and can destroy the inter-office envelope are not allowed.
These require special packaging and can best be served by contacting
Distribution Services at extension 1823.
