USI Theme for Windows 7

With the help of the USI Photography department, the Computer Center has created a USI Windows 7 theme. A theme is a package of your desktop background/wallpaper and screen saver photos, sounds and window color.

Not everyone on campus is running Window 7, but the number is growing daily. One function of Windows 7 that we love is that your background photo can rotate every so many minutes.

The USI Windows 7 Theme is made up of beautiful photos of campus buildings, fountains, athletic events and more. I hope to add more photos from campus event to the USI theme in the future. Having a USI Theme shows our pride in the school to students, families or campus visitors.

If you are running Window 7, and you want to install this theme follow the instructions below.

** The theme is saved to a Novell network drive - you will need to be connected to the Novell network to download. Call the help desk (x1080) if you cannot get to the O: drive.

1. Save your current theme (should you decide to roll back to it)
   1. Right click on the Desktop
   2. Choose Personalize
   3. Your current theme should appear at the top, under MyThemes(1)
   4. Right click on the Current theme and choose Save theme, name it your first name (ex. Carol)
   5. Click Save
   6. Close that window

2. Install the USI Theme
   1. Click the Start button
   2. Choose Computer
   3. Click the O: drive
   4. Go to folder CAROL
   5. Double click USI Windows 7 Theme – it should install
   6. Close all open windows
   7. FYI - my theme has a screen saver that will lock the computer if not in use after 8 minutes. You will need your password to unlock the computer. You can tweak this to your preferences.

3. If you want/need to switch back to your previous theme
   1. Right click on desktop
   2. Choose Personalize
   3. Choose the theme named with your first name
   4. Close the current window.
