VPN (Virtual Private Network)
Below is general information regarding Virtual Private Network (VPN): The Computer Center offers a solution to our faculty and staff who have an ISP (Internet Service Provider) at home, and want to access USI computer resources. The VPN allows your home computer to appear to USI network resources as though you were on the USI network, not coming in from outside. Resources not available for access off-campus are accessible using the VPN. This includes, but is not limited to, Outlook eMail, Banner, and other departmental servers and/or applications. FYI: you do NOT need the VPN if you dial USI. To install the VPN you will need a CD and instructions that are available for checkout from the Computer Center. This CD will allow you to install the VPN - it does not have Outlook. Instructions for Outlook can be picked up at the Computer Center. Please know what operating system you have at home and the version of Office/Outlook you have installed. If you should have any questions regarding these services, please contact our Help Desk at (812) 465-1080 or contact us via email. |
