MyUSI and Outlook Email

Q: How do I maintain 2 USI email addresses?

A: Every USI employee automatically gets a MyUSI email account - this includes an @MAIL.usi.edu email address.

Employees can also get an Exchange email account (@usi.edu) by requesting one from the Computer Center.

Here are a few options to ease the confusion, of managing 2 email accounts.

Option 1 Forward your MAIL.usi.edu email to your usi.edu mailbox. After setting this up, you should only need to use Outlook or Outlook Web Access to read mail sent to either of your addresses.
- Log into MyUSI
- In the Dashboard area (on right) click myUSI mail
- click Options (lower left)
- click FORWARDING (left)
- Check the box "enable auto forwarding"
- Enter your Outlook email address in the box (for example mrblack@usi.edu)
- Click SAVE PREFERENCES
- Click OK
- Give the system 15 minutes to process your changes and then send a test message from your outlook account to your username@mail.usi.edu to make sure the forward is working.

Option 2: Redirect/forward your usi.edu mail to your MAIL.usi.edu mailbox:
- Start Outlook
- Click Tools, Rules & Alerts
- Choose New Rule
- Start from a blank Rule
- Check when mail arrives
- Next, next, yes (all messages),
- Redirect it to people or distribution list
- Also check Delete message
- In the lower pane click "People or distribution lists"
- In lower box (TO) type your MAIL.usi.edu address (vs picking a USI name from the global address list)
- Finish.
