Why See a Counselor?

National Awareness Day Screenings

The Counseling Center offers educational programs that include mental health screenings throughout the academic year. The screenings promote education, prevention and early detection of treatable mental health disorders and alcohol problems affecting college students.
The screenings are free and confidential. You may complete a screening at the Counseling Center which is located in the Orr Center 1051. The screenings will be available between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on the dates listed below:

National Depression Screening Day
Thursday, October 8th, 2009

National Eating Disorder Screening Day
Thursday, February 25th, 2010

National Alcohol Screening Day
Thursday, April 8th, 2010

The Counseling Center will also sponsor a National Alcohol Screening Day sometime during National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week, October 18-24, 2009. More information on the specific day and times will be forthcoming.

If you are unable to attend the national screening dates, you can still make an appointment to meet with a counselor to complete a screening. You can contact the Counseling Center at (812) 464-1867 if you have any questions about the mental health screenings.
