B. Thomas Longwell, Psy.D. (Pacific University, 2004) Director
Dr. Longwell completed his doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology at Pacific University where he received the “Outstanding Practitioner-Scholar Award,” his program’s top honor. Dr. Longwell also holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Purdue University and a master’s degree in Behavioral Analysis and Therapy from Southern Illinois University. Dr. Longwell has extensive experience working with students, faculty, and staff, and he maintains a professional interest in anxiety and depressive disorders, empirically-supported interventions, ethics, and student mental health and wellness. Dr. Longwell is in charge of the day-to-day operations of the USI Counseling Center and serves on multiple university-wide committees. Dr. Longwell is a member of the Indiana Psychological Association and the Association for Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies. |

Amy Cavanaugh, Ph.D. (Western Michigan University, 2011)
Staff Therapist
Amy joined the staff of the Counseling Center at USI in September 2011. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Eastern Michigan University, master’s degree in Counseling from Ball State University, and a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Western Michigan University. Her role at the Center includes providing individual and couples counseling, with a particular focus on interpersonal violence, sexual violence, body image, eating disorders, and multicultural issues. Amy’s role also includes developing and implementing counseling groups for students. Amy is a member of the American Psychological Association, the American Counseling Association, and the Association for Women in Psychology. |

Stephanie J. Cunningham, Ph.D. (The University of Akron, 2012)
Staff Therapist & Outreach Coordinator
Stephanie joined the staff of the Counseling Center at USI in January 2011. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Transylvania University, a master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Morehead State University, and a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology at The University of Akron. Her role at the Center includes developing outreach programming and providing personal counseling, with a particular focus on gender and gender identity, sexual orientation, multicultural issues, and women’s empowerment. Stephanie is an affiliate member of the American Psychological Association and its divisions for Counseling Psychology, the Psychology of Women, and the Psychological Study of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Issues. |

Diana Rumsey
Senior Administrative Assistant
Diana was first employed at USI in 2006 as a cashier in the Business Office. Since her transfer to the Counseling Center in January 2008, she has been promoted to senior administrative assistant and now manages the daily operations of the front office. Diana also assists the assistant director with testing and other accommodation services for students with disabilities. |

Julie Whorl
Administrative Assistant
While employed by USI since 2010, Julie joined the Counseling Center in July of 2012. Her primary duties include answering the telephone, scheduling student appointments, and greeting and directing staff, faculty, students, and visitors. |
