May 23 - June 17, 2011
The USI Summer Institute for Online Teaching and Learning is designed to provide faculty with training to develop online courses, particularly those courses in the core curriculum or that support an ongoing distance education program. Selected faculty members attend a four-week long intensive Institute during the summer during which time the online course development process begins. Online courses are developed and delivered within the following academic year; and participants share their experiences and training with others in their schools and departments.
The 2011 Summer Institute will be a combination of online course work, in
class instruction and development time. The agenda provides more details on the
Institute's schedule.
USI faculty members may apply for participation in the program which pays a
summer development stipend. The program is administered and sponsored on
campus by USI Instructional Technology Services.
ITS is particularly interested in proposals that will result in
development and implementation of distance learning courses in the University
Core Curriculum, particularly those at the 100-200 level. Other courses
considered eligible include 300-400 level courses appropriate to distance
education degree programs or any courses appropriate to a school’s distance
education plan.
Applications are available to the left and due March 4, 2011
