The USI Distance Education office coordinates student services for distance education courses and programs.  It serves as a clearinghouse for distance education information, and assists USI and non-USI students in the registration process, in obtaining information for courses and programs, and verifying proctors for required course examinations.  The DE Learning Center Coordinator may be reached via email at distance@usi.edu or by telephone at 812/228-5124 or 800/813-4238 (outside Evansville).  The Distance Education Student Handbook contains detailed information about student support, learning resources, and useful USI contact and campus information.

Distance education course exam dates are set by instructors.  Make-up exams are proctored on campus in the DE Learning Center or off-campus by proctors approved by the course instructor.  Exam policy details for exams taken at the DE Learning Center are available online.

Live outside Evansville and need to take an exam for a USI distance education course?  Exam policy details for exams proctored off-campus are available online.  Print this document, complete the top portion of the Exam Proctor Information Form, and then deliver it to the proposed proctor to complete the bottom portion.  Once the completed form is submitted to the DE Learning Center via mail or fax, the Distance Education Proctor  will contact and confirm the proposed proctor, obtain approval from the instructor, and then notify you of proctor approval.  You should secure an off-campus proctor at the beginning of the term, NOT immediately prior to an examination.  Please allow two weeks for the proctor approval process.   Consult the ICN Statewide List of Exam Proctoring Sites (contact information for nearly 100 test proctoring sites in Indiana).

Searching for an exam proctor in your hometown? Consult the ICN Statewide List of Exam Proctoring Sites or check the listing of ICN Learning Centers located around Indiana.  Out-of-state students should look for a local college or university's learning center, a local school, or library.

Live in the Evansville area and need to take an exam for a distance education course from another university?
USI
Learning Center
offers this service free of charge by appointment only.  Please note that if you fail to give prior notice that you are unable to keep your exam appointment, your exam will be returned to the university offering the course.
