The Hybrid Course Development Program

What is a Hybrid Course? Hybrid courses (.NC#), also called blended learning, consist of both on-campus classroom instructions and online learning interactions (typically, 50% online and 50% classroom time).

At USI, a semester credit hour is based on the policy of 750 minutes (12.5 hr.) of instruction per credit hour awarded. Instructors teach hybrid courses should provide equal amount of instructional hours via various classroom events, online webinars, recorded lectures, virtual discussions, etc.

Program Overview

The Department of Distance Learning offers 4 monthly hands-on workshops to facilitate USI faculty developing quality hybrid courses. Signup

Any faculty who plans to develop a new hybrid course or desires to improve an existing hybrid course is welcome to join the program. The synchronous webinar participation option via Blackboard Collaborate will also be available upon request (R.S.V.P. will still be required for online participants).

Customized Training Support

One-on-one training support with Student Technology Consultants is available throughout the program period. The hours of operation for the Faculty Walk-in Support Center are

      • Mon. Wed. & Fri.    9:00am - 11:30am @ FA 46
      • Tue. Wed. & Thu.   2:00pm - 4:00pm  @ FA 43

Faculty can also take advantage of the Mobile Support Stations

      • Mon. 9:30am - 11:00am @ The 3rd Floor of the Orr Center 
      • Mon. 1:30pm - 3:00pm @ BE 2254
