USI faculty are expected to follow the approval process before teaching a course that has not been delivered online. To view the updated approval status, please visit https://goo.gl/VkogTh
To have your course approved, please follow one of these two options:
Apply for the Online Course Development Program (OCDP). The approval process is waived for courses that developed through OCDP. Eligible faculty may receive up to $3,000 stipend to develop the course online. For more information, please visit http://www.usi.edu/distance/faculty/ocdp
- Review the Course Approval Checklist to learn more about the approval requirements.
- Email a copy of the course syllabus and the completed DL Course Development Proposal Form to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please make sure all required signatures are included.
- Once both documents are received, an instructional designer will be assigned to you. A teaching consultation session can be scheduled with the instructional designer if needed. During this meeting we will go over the online course design principles, identify suitable technologies, and answer questions that faculty may have.
Faculty is responsible to inform the instructional designer when the course is fully developed. We will review the syllabus and the course site on Blackboard to confirm the minimum requirements listed on the Course Approval Checklist have been met.
The instructional designer will inform you if further modification will be needed to complete the approval process.
- An unapproved online course can be offered ONCE before the approval process is completed. However, faculty is responsible to submit the proposal form and a copy of the course syllabus to the Distance Learning department at email@example.com.
